With the start of a new year, many shows are either returning for a new season or making their debuts. However, it can be a bit overwhelming to decide what particular shows to watch. With various streaming services either releasing new shows or new seasons of existing shows, it’s not surprising that some shows stay under people’s radar. I’ve often found myself in a situation of either forgetting that certain shows are coming out or having quite a few shows on my queue that I lose track of. So, since some shows have already been announced, I wanted to put a list together of TV shows in 2022 that you should be on the lookout for.
The shows included on this list were chosen based on several elements, including selecting from various streaming services, encompassing different genres, and picking at least one show returning for a new season. Also included on this list are each show’s main cast and premise.
The show features a series of curated stories of unprecedented and genre-defining stories meant to challenge our traditional notions of horror. From macabre to magical, gothic to grotesque or classically creepy, these eight equally sophisticated and sinister tales (including two original works by del Toro) will be brought to life by a team of writers and directors personally chosen by del Toro.

Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.
A former U.S. marine struggling with dissociative identity disorder is granted the powers of an Egyptian moon god. But he soon finds out that these newfound powers can be both a blessing and a curse to his troubled life.
Lord of the Rings
An epic drama set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil on Middle-earth.

No Main Cast Has Been Announced as of January 2022
Where to Watch: HBO Max
A re-imagining of the Cartoon Network series The Boondocks following the adventures of the Freeman family in Maryland.

Based in Atlanta, Earn and his cousin Alfred try to make their way in the world through the rap scene. Along the way, they come face to face with social and economic issues touching on race, relationships, poverty, status, and parenthood.
The Shining Girls
A serial killer in Chicago during the 1930s stumbles upon a time-traveling device.
The series follows Wednesday Addams during her years as a student when she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart and solve the mystery that embroiled her parents.
The Dropout is a TV series that chronicles Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes’ attempt to revolutionize the healthcare industry after dropping out of college and starting a technology company.
Of course, there are many other shows that I could have included on this list, but these are some TV shows in 2022 that I’m looking forward to the most. Whether it’s horror, comedy, fantasy, or a show within the MCU, it looks like TV shows in 2022 are shaping up to be even better than last year.
