This week Adrian leads us through Tom & Jerry‘s long history, different eras, as well as the well-known controversies around the series. Plus, Adrian and Matt break the news to Kate that Jerry isn’t just a cute little mouse but a nuisance who absolutely refuses to let Tom play the piano in peace. While we don’t get into a full review of the new film on HBO Max we do get a quick run down of it.
If you’re unfamiliar with Tom & Jerry is an American animated franchise and series of comedy short films created in 1940 by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Best known for its 161 theatrical short films by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the series centers on the rivalry between the titular characters of a cat named Tom and a mouse named Jerry. Many shorts also feature several recurring characters.
