The Boys season 2 review

Trashed Talk Podcast is joined by friends of the show Jose from NYC, and Mael from Boston to review season 2 of Amazon’s The Boys on this week’s episode.  We also contrast the show with the popular comic book run by Garth Ennis.  Stick around for an informative game and comic of the week!

Superheroes are often as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and sometimes even as revered as gods. But that’s when they’re using their powers for good. What happens when the heroes go rogue and start abusing their powers? When it’s the powerless against the super powerful, the Boys head out on a heroic quest to expose the truth about the Seven and Vought, the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and covers up their dirty secrets. Based on the comic book series of the same name.

This October, Trashed Talk Podcast and the rest of Butwhytho is working with St. Judes to fight childhood cancer. Consider donating at stjude.org/butwhytho. For every $75 donated, Austen and Travis will eat a spoonful of The Bomb salsa.

Check out Austen subjecting himself to horrible hot salsa for a good cause on our Instagram.

Show Notes:

Introduction: It would help the podcast if you gave us a follow on your favorite podcast service and our social media sites, and a review on Itunes would be so nice!

Real News/Fake News: Austen gives the guests four pieces of ridiculous movie and tv show news, and Travis, Jose, and Mael try to guess the made-up one.

  1. Adam Sandler wants to make a movie where all his famous characters interact together in a “Sandlerverse”.  (Real)
  2.  Bobbleheads the movie.  Yes. That is a movie that is happening for some reason. (Real)
  3. Superhigh the movie with Andy Samberg.  A future superhero movie where they gain powers from smoking week. (Real)
  4. Mummy tv series. (Fake).

The Boys review: The main theme of the show, Trashed Talk Podcast breaks down all the new storylines and characters and goes into what our favorite characters are up to now in this season. In a sweep, The Boys season 2 receives the top grade a “Kino” rating from each member of the podcast. What did you think about the Boys season 2?  Let us know!

Comic book of the week:

The comic that inspired the show, Garth Enis’ run of The Boys is our comic of the week. Enjoyable on its own, the comic has a totally different feel to it than its show counterpart. More about the jokes and the edge, The Boys is what Garth Ennis is turned up to 11. Listen to our comic book of the week to hear Mael and Travis compare it to the show.

Game of the week: Mortal Kombat 11 presented by Jose.

At the Movies with Trashed Talk Podcast: The cast of Trashed Talk Podcast recommends you the audience four movies or shows we’ve been checking out recently.

  • Austen’s recommendation: Fighting with my Family.
  • Travis’s recommendation: Lost Bullet.
  • Mael’s recommendation: The Good Place.
  • Jose’s recommendation: The Midnight Gospel.

Duke it out or Puke it Out: Mael and Jose duke it out in our debate portion of the show. Did the winner deserve the victory? Do you disagree with Austen’s ruling? Email us and let us know!
