Stack Up, the award-winning charity bringing together veterans and civilians through a shared love of games, celebrates its fifth anniversary with Call to Arms Live, a live fundraising event taking place Saturday, Nov. 14 on Twitch from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM PDT to help raise money for veterans as part of the Call to Arms V fundraising drive.
Money donated during Call to Arms Live goes toward providing veterans and active duty service members with games and consoles to help them deal with the stresses of their deployments and when recovering back home. Volunteers assemble and deliver these gaming care packages to bases, hospitals, and veterans’ homes worldwide.Call to Arms Live will feature festivities such as a tournament featuring some of Stack Up’s most prolific Twitch streamers and unique custom PC builds for deserving veterans. Founder Stephen Machuga and Director of Media Brian “Skatch” Snyder will provide commentary, speak with veterans Stack Up assisted, and share the best stories from the first five years.
The charity’s latest initiative, the Overwatch Program (StOP), engages veterans with a staff of volunteers around the clock to assist with mental health interventions, with more than 210 people helped to date. For these efforts, Stack Up earned a 2019 Newman’s Own Award and recognition as one of Facebook’s Global Gaming Citizens during the 2019 Video Game Awards.
“Gaming helped me immensely during a long tour in Iraq, and I knew I had to pass along these benefits to my comrades in arms,” said Stephen Machuga, Founder and CEO, Stack Up. “Five years later, we’ve received more than $10,000,000 in donations and helped 33,000 veterans and counting. I’m beyond grateful to all of our supporters, and I know they’ll come together to make Call to Arms Live for our incredible community.”
Those who want to contribute to Stack Up’s mission can do so during the live event or through the Call to Arms V fundraising drive running now through Monday, Nov. 30. Those who participate and help raise funds from their friends, family, and streaming audiences can earn exclusive prizes such as the just-revealed top prize, a Call to Arms varsity jacket.
