Maneater, the shark-based RPG that launched on consoles and PC via the Epic Games Store earlier this year, will release on next-generation consoles with updated features. In Maneater, players start as a small bull shark pup, tasked with surviving the harsh ocean while eating your way up the ecosystem. To do this, you must explore a large and varied open world, encountering diverse enemies in the forms of both humans and wildlife. Find the right resources and you can grow and evolve far beyond what nature intended, allowing you to tailor your shark to your play style and take revenge on the fisherman that maimed you.
Developer and publisher Tripwire Interactive, along with retail partner and publisher Deep Silver, has announced that Maneater will come to Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 and include ray-tracing, native 4K HDR at 60 FPS and new lighting effects.
Xbox Series X owners will also benefit from increased graphical fidelity and frame rates. The PC version of Maneater will receive next-gen updates in early 2021 as well, though more information on those enhancements is yet to be released.
“The Tripwire team has been overwhelmed by the great reception Maneater received since it launched earlier this year, and we can’t wait for players to experience the thrill of playing as a deadly shark in all of her powerful glory on next-gen consoles,” said John Gibson, CEO of Tripwire Interactive. “With next-gen Maneater has never looked better with amazing ray traced water and smooth 4k 60FPS gameplay, but the adventures won’t stop there, as fans can expect even more exciting news about the future of Maneater soon.”
Plus, players who currently own Maneater on Xbox One or PS4 will receive a free, full upgrade once the next generation launches in November.
The next-generation upgrades will be available at launch for the Xbox Series X and S on November 10, 2020, and PlayStation 5 on November 12, 2020, in North America.
Maneater, which has now sold over one million units worldwide, is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC for $39.99.
