Quibi ads have been everywhere. We’ve seen the faces of Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) and Chrissy Teigen (Lip Sync Battle) promoting this platform. The premise of this app is high quality shows in a matter of ten minutes, with new episodes daily. A bonus was that this media was all curated with the idea of watching it on your phone with ease.
Quibi comes with two types of subscriptions. The base price for the streaming service is $4.99/month with ads. Ads will play before the episode and will not interrupt while you’re watching. To watch freely without ad, you can pay $7.99/month. Quibi is currently on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. The platform was founded in 2018 and is geared toward younger demographics. Content is delivered in 10 minutes or else and the word Quibi is short for Quick Bites.
Jumping into the app, I was impressed with the amount of content Quibi has to start. When watching a show, you can consume it in either portrait or landscape mode. When searching, you scroll up and down. The home screen showcases what’s for you and interested. Once you start browsing different genres, shows pop up that you may be interested in. After I binged the first episodes of Punk’d and Survive, I was greeted to other comedy and drama like shows. And nowadays with people on the go, you can download your favorite shows so you’re not interrupted by having any service.
You’re probably wondering, why to pick up Quibi since there are big-name streaming platforms out there already feeling that void. Currently, Quibi is free for 90 days. This is more than enough time to devour what the platform has to offer. Shows are different and the concept of watching a 10-minute show is interesting and it gets you hooked, making you want more. Additionally, the platform has fresh content added on a daily and weekly basis, content you can’t find anywhere else.
With that out of the way, here are some notable shows to check out when getting started on Quibi
Survive, starring Sophie Turner, follows Jane, a young woman who wants to end it all but ends up a victim of a horrific plane crash. With fellow survivor, Paul (Straight Outta Compton), Jane is finding the courage to survive. For those struggling with mental illness and suicide, I would be cautious when diving into a show such as this. The first two episodes are intense.
Punk’d is back with Chance The Rapper at the helm as host. You will have a blast in the first two episodes as Chance and the gang prank Megan Thee Stallion and Liza Koshy. New episodes are added daily.
Check out the Honorable Judge Chrissy Teigen take on real people and real cases in this courtroom comedy. The first few episodes will have you questioning whether these cases are real due to the disputes these people are bringing. Regardless, other people’s drama always seems to be entertaining.
Quibi bite size shows is great to pass the time with more added the following day. With its launch, there’s a little something for everyone and the actors include big names in Hollywood. It’s nice to know the platform is getting content daily and weekly. Shows range from reality TV to news source, and even documentaries. Quibi seems to be geared to those always on the go and short on time but also want to be entertained. You can download Quibi now from the Apple App Store and Google PlayStore.
