DC is taking a bit of the sting out of any fans getting pranked on April Fool’s Day by giving them access to Stanley “Artgerm” Lau’s breathtaking variant cover featuring Punchline a whole two issues earlier! The cover will now be a variant for Batman #92 instead of the originally planned issue #94.
Since its reveal a few weeks ago, this cover has only served to turn up the heat and interest in this mysterious character following her initial cameo appearances in Batman #89 on February 19, as well as in issue #3 of Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen, on sale now at comic book stores and participating online retailers (Spoiler Alert: Punchline is not a fan of “Apex Lex’s” former bodyguard, Mercy Graves).
“Their Dark Designs,” the debut story arc of writer James Tynion IV and artist Guillem March continues to reveal the plans of Gotham City’s newest villain, The Designer! This mysterious crimemaster is planning the greatest heist in Gotham City and he’s enlisted the aid of Gotham’s most evil villains! Batman knows what he needs to do to stop this plot, but he must first escape the most ingenious death trap ever devised, courtesy of The Riddler!
And under “even more good news,” a new Punchline variant cover is being created for Batman #94 by none other than fan-favorite cover artist Francesco Mattina! With Mattina involved, it’s sure to be dynamite and we’ll share it with you as soon as it’s ready for prime time!
Fans should get to their local comic book retailer now and order their copy of the Batman #92 Artgerm variant ASAP, as retailers will be submitting their orders on Monday, March 9. If you miss one of the hottest stories of the Dark Knight’s career, along with an even hotter cover, the joke is definitely on you!
