A last bit of hype for Star Wars lovers everywhere.

Rare LTD came on next to announce their newest IP Everwild. This gorgeous looking game gives a wilderness exploration vibe to it. The trailer featured mostly serene moments of nature exploration, but also a tense confrontation with some sort of hostile creature. It looks interesting to say the least and it has everyone here at But Why Tho buzzing. I imagine we’ll get a much deeper dive into Everwild come E3.

Next up on XO19 was Obsidian Entertainments new IP Grounded. Where players take the roll of kids who have been shrunk down to the size of insects and must survive the perils of their own back yard. Crafting gameplay was hinted at as well as likely multiplayer.  It was also announced that Grounded  will be coming to Xbox preview this spring.

The tracks feature secret short cuts to encourage player exploration of each track to squeeze the most out of their races. With loads of customization options for driver, karts and emotes it looks like every player will be sporting their own unique look. If you are familiar with Dontnod’s previous works this game will instantly look recognizable to you. The game also features a trans protagonist, voiced by a trans voice actor, and was created with help of GLAAD. Tell Me Why was given a summer 2020 release date.

The Artful Escape

Annpurna Interactive took the XO19 to talk about The Artful Escape. This 2D side scrolling platformer has the player taking control of a guitar wielding protagonist. Not much was shown of gameplay but music certainly seems to be front and center here. No release date was announced for The Artful Escape.

Drake Hollow

Next up X019 brought us the premiere of Drake Hollow. Not much was shown about this new game from Molasses Flood. With a haunting cartoony vibe the game looked like it would probably focus on multiplayer play. We’ll have to wait for more info to know for sure.

Age of Empires IV

Age of Empires IV took the X019 stage next. New gameplay revealed it would be taking players to the medieval era of the past. Also shown off during the gameplay was the empires of the British and the Monguls. The game looked gorgeous. These reveals were followed up with a look at Age of Empires II Definitive Edition. Project xCloud

X019 then stepped away from the games for a bit and started talking tech. Particularly Xbox Game Studios XCloud streaming service. Currently in closed beta, xCloud already sports 50+ titles with more coming. The emphasis placed on this number couldn’t help but come off as a jab against Google’s Stadia streaming service that will be releasing to special “Founders” members next week with a scant 12 titles.

It was also announced that XCloud will be compatible with numerous Bluetooth controllers along with the standard Xbox One controller. Most specifically, Xbox Game Studios named the Play Station DualShock controller as being compatible with XCloud. Xbox continued to push its message of “play where you want, how you want”.
