Marvel's Runaways

Fans of Hulu’s teenage superhero rebels got a special treat at New York Comic Con 2019. At the Hulu Theater at the Madison Square Garden, Hulu gave reporters and super fans a sneak peek at the upcoming season Marvel’s Runaways. Per the season synopsis, Season Three begins as “The Runaways frantically search for their captured friends Chase, Gert and Karolina. The kids go head to head with an unstoppable enemy who has targeted Leslie— or more accurately, the child she’s carrying. Nico draws them all into a dark realm where its ruler Morgan le Fay, played by Elizabeth Hurley, is much more nefarious than anyone the kids have yet to face.”

Afterwards in a panel moderated by head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb, executive producers Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz joined series stars Allegra Acosta (Molly), Ariela Barer (Gert), Rhenzy Feliz (Alex), Virginia Gardner (Karolina), Lyrica Okano (Nico), and Gregg Sulkin (Chase) in a panel discussion of season 3 has in store. With months before the official release, the cast strictly avoided giving spoilers. Without revealing too much, the Runaways and company laid out what they loved most about Season 3.  as well as taking audience questions. Taking a note from the Runaways, we won’t venture fully into spoiler territory. But here are a few highlights of what you’ll see when all episodes of Marvel’s Runaways season three hit Hulu on Friday, December 13th..

Some of the biggest news to come out of the Marvel’s Runaways Panel came after the episode. During the QA portion of the panel. The cast were asked about their favorite episodes in upcoming season. In their responses, the cast revealed that the third season would contain Marvel’s Runaways’ first crossover! Hulu’s own Cloak and Dagger will find their way to Los Angeles for a special crossover event. While details on the crossover were understandably sparse, the cast and producers made clear it that this isn’t just a cameo.

Cloak and Dagger will play a key role in the upcoming season, according to Greg Skulkin. While the shows only cross over for one episode in the season, it’s ramifications spread through the entire season. It also, according to the producers, raises the possibility of the Runaways finding their way into an episode of Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger. Every cast member present loved that idea, cheering along with the audience.

Another piece of advice from the Runaways? Keep an eye on Alex. Fans of the Marvel Comic know that Alex’s fate in the comics plays out a little differently from what we’ve seen so far on the show.  In the comics Alex works as a mole for The Pride, siding with his parents over The Runaways. While on the show, it was both Karolina and Chase who go back to The Pride. Time and again, TV’s Alex Wilder has done his best to take his parents down.

This season, according to star Rhenzy Feliz, will finally address Alex’s ultimate fate in the comics, something Feliz says wanted to do for a longtime. It was something that he kept in mind in all of his performances.
