The Warhammer franchise is a massive universe of constant war and conquest. From the fantasy realms of Warhammer to the furthest reaches of space with the futuristic Warhammer 40,000. Starting off as tabletop games, Warhammer has expanded into video games filled with action and strategy, from the relentless shooting of Warhammer: Vermintide to the deadly tactics of Spacehulk Tactics. The franchise has been able to expand with a variety of mobile, PC, and console games.
There are no shortage of games for curious players to see in the world of Warhammer. BigBen Publishing, along with Eko Software, and Games WorkShop are introducing a very ambitious action RPG next year: Warhammer: Chaosbane. The ambitious new hack and slash action RPG is coming in 2019 for consoles and PC, and by the look of the new trailer, it looks like a fantastic experience.
“Long before the reign of our glorious Karl Franz, the bloodthirsty tribes of the North united and invaded the Empire of Man. The Great War Against Chaos raged on, up until Magnus the Pious rallied the citizens of Nuln, resisted the enemy and defeated the Chaos leader, known as ‘The Everchosen’, scattering the invaders in the process. But the forces of Chaos have crawled back from the shadows to strike at the Empire. Unless something is done, the Empire of Man will again descend into darkness and turmoil.”
Most Warhammer games take place in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, filled with battleships, guns, aliens, and interstellar sci-fi combat. Unlike those iterations, Warhammer: Chaosbane will take place in the more traditional fantasy setting, which is quite rare among the Warhammer video games.
Players will be able to play cooperatively in both online and offline co-op, as a human, high elf, wood elf, or dwarf. As this is an epic battle against the forces of darkness, expect to see a variety of vile enemies across many battlefields, from mountains to dungeons. One special attack that will be unique to Warhammer Chaosbane is bloodlust, a wide-ranging special attack that can change the entire course of an intense battle.
Warhammer Chaosbane is currently in active development for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Warhammer Chaosbane is slated for release next year.
